Installation of Vista Beta 2 fails

I made a DVD image of the downloaded *.iso file.

The installation runs beyond the point where it seeks the serial number,
asks where to install (clean install on a 25GB empty primary NTFS partition),
and then starts to copy files. It reaches 11% and then stops: fails: saying:
Error code 80070241
cannot copy files

This happens again and again after I repeat the process. I cleaned the DVD
but still the same problem.

Some have suggested it is caused by corrupt .iso file. Try verifying the md5
hash of the .iso. If you don't know how, ask that question directly in the
General group. (Or figure out by googling)

If the hash is correct then it might be time to look for setup*.log and see
which of them has a date time matching the time when setup failed.

Just try typing 80070241 in google and pick from the plethora of possible
solutions.....
Many issues regarding this type of install. If u wanna try vista without
problems, get 1 HD with no partitions and this doesn't have to be formatted
etc, disconnect all the HD drives and install 2 that 1. NB 25GB is a very
small space given the fact that full install on the beta will take at least
16GB not including whatever ever pagefile.sys it throws at
you.....................

Sir, your statement that your HD have "no partitions" is totally stupid,
since it is not possible to install a Windows OS on a HD which has not been
"partitioned" with at least ONE partition.

This, I am sure, is because of your ignorance about raw hard drives, which
MUST be "partitioned" with at least one partition to even use, then that
partition must be formatted with a File system before an OS can be
installed.

The SIMPLEST partitioning scheme for Hard drives is to create ONE partition
out of ALL free space. This WOULD create ONE partition. So such a HD would
NOT be "unpartioned". It would have at least ONE partition.

Sir I apologise most profusely for the typo which should have been 'extra
partitions' having read many dual boot posts and reading others well into

wow... you should get yourself one of those little squeezy stress balls Mac


on the topic of error code 80070241, it appears to be an issue with the boot
sector of my HDD (three partitions) claims to be missing a boot manager and
refuses to auto fix it... for those who are pretty sure their ISO burnt
straight (especially the copy that works on other comps), go into system
recovery options at the bottom of the initial "install now" screen and run
the startup repair option. I'm encountering this error due to what I believe
is a complete lack of system files on this partition (I formatted it to start
"clean"...old habits die hard...) this is further supported in part by other
posts (reinstall XP and run vista setup in XP to fix error...) so if I can
get a concencus here among the 80070241 club on this, maybe we can get a
little further along towards figuring it out.

partition thing is killin me it's like walking into english class and
pointing out that a preposition is a terrible thing to end a sentence with.

What files do you point the startup repair tool on the iso disk to place them

Maybe I do need a large disk too. 40 gig min huh.
