Installation Keyboard problems

I am having trouble installing the 64bit version of vista. The problem I'm
running into is that when asked for the product key my keyboard won't
respond. I have tried doign the ALT-SHIFT and still no response. Tried a
restart and made sure I was in latin based language (English-United States is
what i was on. Had US keyboard). Anyone else have this problem or know how
to fix it?
 
It may help to know what type of keyboard, and whether or not you have
contacted the manufacturer of the keyboard for appropriate drivers.
 
I had the same issue with a microsoft USB keyboard I moved it to anohter USB
port and it strated working again.
