Installing upgrade to xpsp2 with DVD I paid $10 for. Installation occurs
normally until near the end of "Completing Upgrade". Error message states, "
The drive is not ready for use: its door may be open. Please check drive
and make sure that a disk is inserted and that the drive door is closed."
"Cancel" "try again" "continue" buttons do not cure the hang. reinserting
the disk does not help. The drive spins and the read light comes on, but the
installation never starts.

There have been many, many reported problems with upgrade attempts. Not to
tell you what to do, or anything, but don't upgrade a computer that you
expect to use. Expect to lose all your data. Why not partition your hard
drive, or better yet, buy another hard drive and then do a clean
installation of Vista.

And for the record, the DVD's were free; you paid the shipping and handling,
and when you consider that also includes RC1 when it becomes available,
$10.00 for four DVD's is less than BMG charges.
