Neil

I've just tried to install Win2000 on my Win 98 PC.
Before the first restart, I provided the driver for the
network card on CD as asked and said yes when I was asked
if I wanted to upgrade the HDD to NTFS. Upon restart the
PC could not locate the HDD (even in setup) and the
Win2000 setup program said it could not continue.

Please help.

As a first step you must get into the BIOS setup
and check if it still recognises the hard disk. Report
the result here!

Take your machine to your friendly computer dealer
and ask him to have a look at it.

(I assume you have done the usual things like
checking your ribbon cables & power connections).

Hey Neil, try re-installing Win2k without doing anything
else first. Make sure that the OS is up and running fine
first before you begin installing drivers or
applications, etc. You can always install the drivers
once you get it going by going into >computer management<
(as you probably already know). Something probably didn't
take correctly when you tried to install the drivers the
first time around, and that probably misconfigured the
installation of Win2k. Wayne B.
