Installation errors

Hi,
Start>run>services.msc>ok, scroll down to "Windows Installer"> double
click on it. Stop the service if it is running, set the startup type
line to disabled. Click apply/ok and restart.
Delete the contents of the temp folders.
Now reenable the Windows Installer.Restart your machine.
Open Task Manager and end task running programs,disable anti-virus
software,and retry installation.

Every time that I try to install something on my computer now that I have upgraded to Windows XP, It stops installing right in the middle of it & disappears. Is there something that I can do to fix this problem???
