I was cleaning my computer, running AdAware to remove
installed malware, using "Add/Remove Programs" to remove
the leftover Bargin Buddy folder and other unused
programs, when I discovered MS installer no longer worked.
After removing Bargin Buddy I got error message 1719 when
trying to uninstall other programs. I went to the
Microsoft web site, followed Article 315346 ("Error 1719.
The Windows Installer service could not be accessed") but
to no avail. The msiexec.exe path was correct and the
registry fine, but when I tried to run msiexec / regserver
I got an "incorrect command line parameters" error popup.
Now what? Microsoft offers no Windows installer for XP and
their installer cleanup program gave me the same popup
message.
