Installation blocking issue - pcAnywhere

I"m trying to install XP home and keep getting a blocking issue, pcAnywhere
10.0 which was removed years ago. Done all of the obvious like searching the
registry and deleting keys with reference to pcAnywhere and Symantec. When I
do a text search for files that have those two names I get lots of files,
including user.dat and system.dat. I look at them in an editor and there are
references to .dll locations even though I expunged any keys with the names.
Like regedit doesn't find every reference to the search term you are using.
Lots of other files have reference to these names, files that are coded as
if they are important system files or something. Seems like Microsoft would
have an answer for this since other people have posted on this conundrum
before.

Your post doesnt expalin what is meant by 'blocking issue'

Assuming you are upgrading, backup your data, confirm the backups then do a
clean installation
You will need your origonal win cd & application cd's

Look on Symantec's web site for their enhance Norton removal tool.
This tool will remove all traces of most Symantec "retail" products.

BTW: I have been using PC Anywhere of serveral years and this seems
to work well in XP as long as it is version 10.02 or higher.
