Install winXP two times

hi

i wish to install windows xp in two seperate partitions,
does it matter ?

(my com has win98 on C: drive, winxp on D: drive, and i
wish to install another win XP on E: drive)

Hi Maryam,

Matter? Well it depends on how you look at it.

The license only allows for one copy of WinXP on one machine, so
technically, what you are doing is not in accordance with the EULA that you
agree to when you install WinXP. However, it will probably work anyways.

Boot the WinXP CD, start the installer. It will detect the existing
installation, and offer to repair it (you don't want to do that). Just start
a new installation. When you get to the point where it asks where to install
WinXP, just direct it to a folder on the E partition (like E:\Windows). The
installation will create the triple boot loader, as it should detect the
existing systems. Activation of the new installation should not be a problem
as the hardware hash will be the same as the first installation.

it works, did it myself... if you do it two times in a
row, doesn't even hiccup... i can understand why it might
be in some grey area... but 'cmon, install it twice on
the same machine.... you can only boot into one OS at a
time....

i run office apps on one, games on the other... if a game
melts my OS, i at least i can still work..
