I installed Windows XP on a partitioned hard drive (C:).
I had an older drive which is now connected to a
controller card. On it is my old OS Win 2K. I know there
is a knowledge based help section on adding a second OS
to the boot.ini file but I can't seem to make it work.
Does any one know what specific name I need to give
Windows 2K so that it is accepted? When I try "Windows
200 Professional" I get an error because 2000 is not
recognized. I appreciate any help.

Hi,

I think that this is what you are thinking about:

HOW TO: Edit the Boot.ini File in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=289022

It contains a section on adding another operating system.

That is the file I was looking at. I don't know the
actual command. How do I name Windows 2000 in the area
that is describing the OS? Also what ID number do I use?
Is it simply the next number in line?

Thanks

Hi JC,

You may find it easier to simply boot the Recovery Console and run bootcfg
/add
