Install Outlook 2007 to replace 2003

I did a side by side install of Office 2007, but chose to keep Outlook 2003
for awhile. I am now ready to replace Outlook 2003 with Outlook 2007. I
think I need to remove 2003 before I can install 2007 because when I choose a
custom install, it still shows me that Outlook (2007) is "Unavailable." If I
remove Outlook 2003 before I begin my custom installation of 2007, are all my
e-mails and settings lost? Should I just install Office 2007 using the
"Express" option and let the installation program remove Outlook 2003 and
migrate my 2003 files and settings to Outlook 2007 for me?

Yes to the latter. Let OFF2007 install update Outlook 2003. All your email will be there.

It is also very prudent to back up your pst files before doing anything. Just in case.

Thanks, Peter. Even after I removed Outlook 2003, the OFF2007 CD still would
not let me just install Outlook 2007. What I ended up doing, was removing
OFF2007 completely- reverting back to OFF2003 and re-installing OFF2007 as an
upgrade as opposed to Custom.

My only problem now, is that I have a seperate folder with sub-folders for
"Deleted Items" and "Search Folder" for two of my e-mail accounts. is this
normal? I don't recall having these two extra folders with Outlook 2003.

If you click that icon, can you change it to "Run from My Computer"?
