The 2nd install needs to be on a different partition or drive. Can you
do that?

If you have files that you do not want to lose then you must
back them up to a different medium, e.g. a 2.5" hard disk
in an external USB case. Do this first then come back for
detailed instructions for setting up a multi-booting environment.

thanks for the replies and support.. but i dont have any other drive.. and
the thing from microsoft doesnt help, because it asks me to reformat the
drive, and doesnt have any option that tells me to install xp in a folder

If you install the seconf windows home edition at the same disk(c:),
you must install to the same folder, and after you finished, you have
to reinstall all your software.
But you will not lose all your data.

No, that's not correct. As I have already stated, see the link in the
article I posted on how to install to a new folder.

That is quite true if you install to a new folder, but not if you only do a
repair installation on the existing system.
But you will not lose all your data.

Probably not in either case, but there is still no excuse for not backing up
data on a regular basis.

You must realise that there is a risk of losing your
important files when you play around with the operating
system. The less experience you have with such things,
the greater the risk. Are you willing to accept this risk?
