Install locks when trying to load "network"

I am trying to install Windows XP on a clean machine (HDD
completely reformattted). Everything goes well until it
tries to install the 'network'. The screen says 32 minutes
to complete, the ads change on the screen and the small
squares on the bottom right corner keep animating.
However, the status bar stops moving and the PC sits there
and will not complete the install.

Any help?
