Don't know...

Have you tried repairing/uninstall/install again Microsoft Office Visio -
immediately opening it to test it, then visiting
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ and performing a custom scan and
installing any updates it finds there for it?

Should try it.

It is the "Installer" who is the problem.

I disagree.

Are you saying you have tried what I suggested? You should try it.

I am sorry for not explaining my problem well enough. Since i am
recovering from a severe stroke two months ago i have severe problems
with spelling. Now i have my wife typing for me.

The laptop problem: Every time i try to start a program, the program
"Installer" starts ahead of the desired one and in most cases the
desired program crashes.

In the beginning it only happened when i wanted to start Microsoft
Word 2002.

When i started it the installation program for Word 2000 appeared on
the monitor.

Therefore i had to cancel the installation attempts each time. I then
tried to uninstall Word 2000 to get rid of that problem.
Now the problem instead is that the installation program for Microsoft
VISIO appears on all attempted program execution. Even when i try to
start the control panel this installation program for Microsoft VISIO
appears and i get an error message in explorer.exe and i never see the
control panel.

Could anybody help me please.

The computer is borrowed from our son.
We are using Windows XP Home Edition SP2.
