Install Failure

We are trying to install an XP upgrade (on a ThinkPad T20)
and it fails in the middle and shuts the computer down.

The power supply is connected so we know that isn't the
cause.

Please advise if you know how to remedy this.

Upgrading over which Operating System ?

If it is a IBM generated image on it, then you may be better
off backing up user data and installing fresh. IBM makes
some of the worst PC images around, plus they add all their
own junk on top of it.
T20's are ACPI compliant, but every IBM ThinkPad I've
ever worked on had incorrect BIOS settings related to Pwr.
Management. Check for a BIOS upgrade to the T20 and
make sure the ACPI option is enabled in the BIOS..
