I received the following comment from a MicroSoft MVP, but the solution did
not help my issue. Is it possible to get this error if LiveUpdate was not
completely uninstalled. Any additional solutions to fix this error and allow
me to resinstall LiveUpdate? I have noticed that a few other individuals have
also had this same similar error.

Error: "Install Error:10. The LiveUpdate install failed because LiveUpdate
was not able to register one of its components . . ."

get the following error message when trying to reinstall Symantec
LiveUpdate. The Symantec folks had me uninstall LiveUpdate because they said
my files were corrupted, but I have been unable to reinstall. They do not
seem to have a clue on how to resolve this error. Please note that I am
logged on with Administrator priviledges.

Install Error: 10
The LiveUpdate install failed because LiveUpdate was not able to register
one of its components. You need to have write access to the registry to
install LiveUpdate.
