Install english version winXP over Dansih version winXP

I am running winXP Pro, Danish version
I want to install the english version (I have a CD)

I was told that all software would need to be re-installed, not just the
operating system. Is this true?

Is it possible to change the language to english without re-installing?
Is it possible to re-install XP without it affecting currently installed
software and other settings?

thank you, Brian

I'm afraid you will have to do a clean install which will wipe out
*everything* you have on your hard disk now. Back up your data before
proceeding.

Yes, it's impossible to format a hard drive and leave the applications
in place.

No. You cannot upgrade or convert from one language version of the OS
to another, so you'll have to purchase and use the full version of WinXP
(in whatever language you want) to perform a clean installation.

Only if performing a repair installation (a.k.a. an in-place upgrade)
of the same edition and language versions, and even then many settings
may be lost.

Yes.

There is no way to change languages except by doing a clean installation,
and a clean installation involves formatting the drive. That means losing
*everything* on the drive, Windows, applications, data, etc.

No.

No.

You can do what's called a Repair installation, and that doesn't affect
applications and data, but that's really just a repair, and not really an
installation. And it certainly can't be used to change languages.
