install can't find NT51INF.CAT

While downloading auto updates as result of microsoft
security alert, the computer became extremely slugish and
unresponsive.In an attempt to correct the situation I
attempted to reinstall win2000prof. After several attempts
a screen olways comes up saying the file NT5INF.CAT IS
NEEDED ON WINDOWS 2000 IS NEEDED
Type the path where this file is located and click OK.
I can't find any such file. Please help.

I've seen this same problem before too. But I did find an
answer to it. The file you need is on your CD-ROM. The
problem is the CD-ROM Drive. From what I've read, this
apparently happens to older CD-ROM drives. One thing you
can try doing is to eject the CD-ROM and then re-insert
it. If this does not work, try another CD-ROM Drive.
