install applications on 2nd drive

I have a new computer with Windows XP Prof. I partitioned
the drive and want to install all applications on a drive
other than C. I prefer to install applications from CD,
instead of moving them. Add/Remove Wizard assumes that the
new application goes onto drive C. How can I install on
drive G?
 
Most give you the chance to browse to where ever you want to install it. Up
till about 4 years ago hardly none gave you the option, but most do now.
Instead of just clicking your way thru the install, read each page? It is
possible some progs will take slightly longer to open tho?
