Install and run ocget.dll?

W

Wilbur Post

Whenever I open a photo at webshots.com, a security warning pops up and
asks:

Do you want to install and run

http://activex.microsoft.com/objects/ocget.dll

The publisher cannot be determined due to the problems below:
The object to be verified is unknown to the trust provider.

Does anyone know what the problem is? A search of the microsoft site
mentions the ocget.dll, but the regedit solutions don't seem to pertain to
this particular problem.

Change the following registry key so that it does not query ocget.dll:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet
Settings\CodeBaseSearchPath

Thanks for the help. I had tried that solution except that I don't have
a CodeBaseSearchPath key!

FYI CodeBaseSearchPath in the above is not a key; it is a value.
There is a typo in the article in the sentence you quoted which causes
this unnecessary confusion. However, the rest of the article has the
correct word used in more than one other place so it should be easily
understood to be just that, a typo.

I think that Jon's suggestion will change your symptom
but FWIW here is some information about the value:

Do a find for CodeBaseSearchPath in this article:

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bestprac/mblcode.mspx

(Google web search for:
codebasesearchpath site:microsoft.com
)

BTW there are other relevant articles available from that same search.

I'm having this problem too & I don't understand what I'm supposed to
set the value to.
