insertion I bar missing when moving desktop icons

Hi,

The horizontal I-bar that helps show where you are dragging an icon has
disappeared. Does anyone know how to turn it back on? Thanks in advance.

Try the following,

Right click an open spot on your Desktop.
Move your mouse pointer over "Arrange Icons By".
In the menu that pops out, make sure "Auto Arrange" is checked.
If not, click on it so it's checked.
