Inserting videos in powerpoint

L

Luis ORTEGA

I'm having a lot of trouble placing a video to run on a slide in a
powerpoint presentation.
I had a two minute video that I had edited in Premiere and I exported it as
an avi file, but it wouldn't insert or play in powerpoint. I tried other
export settings (mpeg 2, quicktime, avi )and finally got an avi file using
microsoft avi format that was accepted by powerpoint, but whenever it starts
to play it is very sluggish and keeps halting during playback, although the
sound seems to flow OK.
The file sizes on these video clips are between 300 and 500 MB, depending on
how I export them from Premiere.
Can anyone please advise me on what to do to get video to play smoothly in a
powerpoint presentation?
What sort of video files and formats should I use?
Is the file size the problem for smooth playback?
Is there a special way of inserting video into powerpoint? I tried the
insert movie and also the insert object methods already with no success.

Thanks for any help in this.

Start here...

For reliability and compatibility I prefer a true MPEG1 file. It's not the best quality...but it works without too many
headaches.

2nd choice is an AVI file with a common codec.

PowerPoint does stutter when a video clip start to play.
Stuttering during playback....defrag your hard drive.....give powerpoint less to do.....make the next event something
simple......which reminds me....
