Inserting picture into Word 2007

Just upgraded to Word 2007 and am trying to figure things out...

When I insert a picture (inline with text), the picture gets clipped
to the height of the paragraph; all that gets displayed is the lower
portion matching the height of the paragraph (so I essentially get a
bar; note that if I float the image over the text then it displays
fine). Prior versions didn't do this - is this normal operation?

Thanks for any help...

Well, it's normal operation if the line spacing of the paragraph containing
the picture happens to be set to an "Exactly" value, either by a style or by
direct formatting. Change it to "At Least" and the whole picture will
appear.
