Inserting page numbers

Hello,
This problem started recently. Everytime I do an Insert>page number, I get
the following text on the page I am typing in: {PAGE}. When I do a print view
and even when I actually print the pages out, the numbers are correctly
inserted as 1,2 whatever. But it's only when I actually do the Insert Page
step that I get the above text in place of the actual number.
WHy is this happening? Please help me.
 
Press Alt+F9 to switch between display of field codes (what you see now)
and field results. If that doesn't help, then in Word click on Tools |
Options | View tab | uncheck the boxes for "All", "Hidden text", and
"Field codes" | Print tab | uncheck the "Hidden text" and "Field codes"
boxes | OK.
