Inserting Movie (MPG)

When trying to insert a movie (MPG) from file, I receive an error telling me
the file is non-standard or QuickTime is not installed properly. I have
uninstalled and reinstalled both QuickTime and PowerPoint (2002) with no
success. Windows Media Player is set as the default application for my MPG
and MPEG file formats. I am also unable to view movies (MPG) that have
already been inserted in a PPT file. I don't have any problem with AVI
files. O/S is WindowsXP Media Center Edition with SP2. Other PCs are not
having this problem, but they are running WinXP SP2 and not the Media Center
edition.

I've searched the knowledgebase, but couldn't find anything that related to
this version of PPT. Does anyone have a resolution for this issue?

Sandy:

I do, but my client wants to use the MPG format, and all other PCs we're
using this on are supporting it but mine.

TAJ Simmons provided a link where I found my answer. Muvee AutoProducer DVD
Edition (HP pre-installed app) was conflicting with the player. After
uninstalling this, everything works beautifully.

Thanks for the suggestion though. It was going to be my next step.

Thanks for the link. I found the problem: Muvee AutoProducer DVD Edition
was conflicting with the player. Once I unstalled it, I can now insert and
play movies with no problem.

I wish I had started here instead of spending so much time trying to resolve
the issue on my own.

I appreciate the assistance.
