Inserting changes view to draft

Something has happened so that whenever I try to insert a textbox or shape,
the document changes to an extremely small draft view and the insertion
doesn't take place. The only way to get out of the draft view after the
attempt is to "undo" then click "print layout". I have tried repairing and
uninstall/install. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can you reproduce this in any document in Word, or does it occur with a
particular one?
