Inserting an WPA sound file into Powerpoint

We have uploaded a CD Narration onto our C Drive. It is
showing as a WPA (Windows Media Player) file. When we
insert it into a Powerpoint Presentation it looks like it
is playing, but no sound is coming out?

I've run into issues silimar to this. Specifically, what
is the sound file's format? i.e. mp3, wav, etc.

What's a WPA file? That normally means Windows Product Activation.
