Insert updatable multi-page text?

Is there a way to insert/embed the full contents of another .doc file
and have it visible if that file runs over one page in length? If I
use Insert > Object > Create From File tab, a big gray box gets
inserted, but only up to one page's worth of text from the source
file.

Another post says that objects cannot be spread over multiple pages;
therefore use Publisher (which I cannot do here). If so, is there an
alternate method I can use to get the same effect? Thanks.

You can use the Insert File dialog box: On the Insert tab, click the arrow
next to the Object button, and then choose Text from File. Locate the
document you want to insert, click the arrow next to the Insert button, and
choose to Insert as Link.

The above steps inserts an INCLUDETEXT field, and you can update the field
(just select it and press F9) whenever the source document has changed.

Excellent! Thanks for the quick response.

You can use the Insert File dialog box: On the Insert tab, click the arrow
