Insert Pictures in Word 2002--Won't work!

I can't insert pictures into Word 2002--not jpg, bmp, tiff,gif anything!
I've tried everything including opening them in Paint and trying to copy and
paste from there. Sometimes they stick for a second of two, or they stick
and I try to save the document and then when I reopen, nothing.

I just moved this copy of Word 2002 to a new desktop pc--entered the
registration key and everything seems to work fine, except the picture thing.
It works just fine on my laptop.

This new pc had a copy of Office 2003, which I don't want, and I thought
maybe the 60 day comp copy of Word 2003 was interfering so I removed all
that. No change.

The program seems to be fully functional otherwise. I have made all kinds
of documents, printed labels and envelopes from it, even printed to pdf files
with pdf995.

Anybody have any ideas? I am not certain I'm in the right place for this
request. If not, would someone please redirect me?

Have you installed the appropriate service
packs for Word 2002?

Click the "Check for updates" button.

It's possible that you have a problem with your
graphics filters, have a look at the following article:

For Paul and John--

I installed Service Pack 3 for Office and some security patches that were
recommended with no change. Still can't insert a picture file of any kind.
I did post this in the Word Newsgroup--I didn't know about it--thanks for the
redirect.

But I have another question--my old computer has Picture IT! in the included
Works Suite 2003. My new computer has Works v. 8.0 and Picture IT! has
disappeared. I love that program--how do I get it back?? Can I install it
from my Works Suite 2003 CDs? If I try, will that mess up the v 8.0 that
came preinstalled in my new computer?

Thank you for your help. Microsoft MVPs make this whole thing worthwhile!

I am having EXACTLY the same problem as benedict1. I have tried all of the
proposed fixes listed in these posts with no results. To benedict1, did you
ever get this fixed and if so how? Any help is appreciated.
