Insert object in Word doesn’t bring in whole file

I’m trying to create a single document out of several. Here’s what happens.
1. Click “Insert†on main toolbar
2. Click “Object†(brings up “Object†and “Text from Fileâ€)
3. Click “Object†(brings 2 tabs, “Create New†and “Create from Fileâ€)
4. Click “Create from Fileâ€
5. Browse for file and click (pulls file name and path into Browse window)
6. Click OK
BUT, it only brings in the first page of the file.
I’d really like to use this function as, if you notice, you can link back to
the original file and correct both docs at the same time if you need to.
I’ve asked my people here what’s going on but they haven’t a clue.
Any Thoughts?

Instead of Insert > Object, select Insert > File.

Unless you're using Word 2007, in which, confusingly, Insert | Text | Object
| Text from File is what you have to use.

Sorry, should have mentioned I have 2007. "Insert File" was what I was
looking for when I started this whole process.

Yes, I have 2007. But then why have that "Create From File" tab under
object. Not sure what you can accomplish with that.

This is a good discussion. Using Insert -> File... does seem to simplify things a bit, but it also introduces a problem in that the formatting of the s/s (specifically row height) seems to be lost. Anything to do about this?

Also, any way to get it to automatically pick up the printing area of the s/s instead of manually entering the range?
