Insert hyperlink - Text to display box is greyed out

I tried posting this question last week but didn't get any responses, so I'll
try again. Any help would be appreciated.

I am using Outlook 2003 and when I try to insert a hyperlink into a new
Outlook message I do a copy and paste of the file path from Internet Explorer
into the Address field of the Insert Hyperlink window. But, the text to
display box is greyed out, and uneditable. I would like to be able to change
the text to display field, but
I can't.
