All of a sudden my Insert function is not working. For example when I want to
insert text in a paragraph that has already been written it just over writes.
I know there is a keyboard shortcut to resolve this does any one know what it
is?

Press Insert on the keyboard once to toggle off Overtype mode.

Thank-you for the suggestion however this does not work, I had called HP
sometime ago and they gave me the solution for the Key Board Short Cut but
now I dont recall it I thought It included Ctrl/Shift and something but I
dont recall any ideas? This problem use to occur all the time and it has not
happend for a while and now I have forgotten the short cut. I know it
included pushing 3 keys on the keyboard.

Unless you have enabled "Use the INS key for paste" in Tools | Options |
Edit, there is nothing within Word that should cause this issue. If your
keyboard is a programmable one, then you may very well have to press three
keys to clear an inadvertent reprogramming that has been done (I had such a
keyboard that had a sticker on it telling how to "clear macros" because it
was so easy to set them accidentally).

You might check Tools | Customize | Keyboard to make sure that the Insert
key is still assigned to Overtype.

There isn't another standard keyboard shortcut for toggling Insert and
Overtype mode so I'm not sure what they gave you. What version of Word are
you using?

Do you see OVR in bold on the status bar? If so double-click it to toggle
off Overtype mode.

If using Word 2007, right-click the status bar, click Overtype, and then
click back in the document window to close the menu. If you see "Overtype"
on your status bar click it once to toggle it off.
