How to use the MyDocuments button in the Outlook 2003 insert file dialog
window when MyDocuments Redirection is in force through group policy?

I recently implemented MyDocuments redirection to the users home folder
through group policy. Users can access all their files as they normally do
except when attaching an email file attachment. If the User clicks on
MyDocuments in the Insert File dialog window in OUtlook 2003 an access denied
message is displayed. If the user navigates to the home folder through the
Look In combo box or clicks on MyComputer or Network Neighborhood they have
full access to their home folder as they should have. I tried the steps in
KB #252732 but then MyDocuments in the Insert file dialog window comes up
blank and group policy changes my override.

Depends on your redirection path. Did you also gave them the Traverse
Folders right to get to that location?

You can also give the user a home folder and map it to a letter and redirect
it there.

In the Group Policy Object Editor "Setting" on the Target tab was set to
Basic - redirect everyone's folder to the same location. The target folder
location was set to redirect to the users home directory. The users home
folder is defined in the profile tab in active directory as U: and path
\\uapp\users\<username>. I didn't see anything in GPO editor where I could
define the traverse folders right you mentioned. How would I do that?

Traverse Folders isn't a GPO but a security setting on the folder. It allows
the user to "walk" to the folder. Depending on your secruity settings this
one needs to checked as well. There is a difference in if the files are
approached in the way of a mapped drive pointing to \\uapp\users\<username>
or as a redirect that uses \\uapp\users\<username>. This is especially
through if you have denied the users the right to browse the network.
