insert data into a document I scanned into my computer

I scanned some documents into my computer and put them into Word 2000 Now I
am having trouble inserting date
 
Whether it is dates or data you are trying to enter, chances are you are
trying to type on a picture, an image file rather than trying to put text
into text. Your scanner probably came with OCR software to translate
pictures of pages into individual letters.
