Hi,
Every ten minutes or so on my screen pops up the message
that asks me to please insert my Windows XP home edition
cd-rom and that there are unregistered file types that
need to be corrected. When I insert the CD, the problem
doesn't occur. When I click on the no to keep the file
types, the problem goes away for ten minutes and then it
starts all over again. I have re-installed Windows XP
twice and the problem continues. Can anything be done
about this?

Why don't you post the exact message that you recieve and the file(s) that
it wants to correct?

The full details of the error are a "Windows File
Protection" pop up window and it says that some of
Windows files have been replaced by unrecognized versions
and in order to maintain stability Windows must restore
the original versions of these files. Please insert your
CD rom that came with your XP home edition.

does that help?
