info about the OS

I´m a really desperate student who needs information about how Windows XP Pro works. I have to investigate how it works, how does it manage all of its resources, its interruptions, and what language it was programmed in. I´ve been looking all over the web, but it´s really hard to find info because it is not free software. If anyone can help me I´d really apreciate it.
