What is INF file??
I am reading about how to build a computer. They are talking about the
monitor and the say this
"Windows can automatically detect the make and model, and load configuring
INF file, but if this doesn't happen, and Windows loads the default monitor
configuring file..."

INF files deal with windows based systems and plug and play. The INF file
contains pertinent INFormation on hardware configurations.

although that is a work around for this its not nessasarly the best
way..besides it takes only a few seconds, even with dialup, to DL the INF
file from the builder..if available if it isn't then that suggestion would
be your fall back With the INF file downloaded you would goto device manager
hardware monitor properties update driver point to the folder you dl'd the
inf to

OR right click the INF install then follow above until you get to update
driver..at this point you would

Right click on the monitor there and click "Properties" and then the

"Driver" tab. Click "Update Driver..." button.

This will bring up the "Hardware Update Wizard".

Check "Install from a list or specific location", then click "Next". On the
next screen check "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install." Then
"Next" again.

Uncheck the "Show compatible hardware" box if it is checked.

look through the list for your manufacturer highlite it and then pick model
from the right panel.

This is so the adapter knows what refresh rates your monitor can handle.
therfore protecting / adding to life span
