Inexpensive NAS (network storage) solutions?

I'm looking at the recent offerings in inexpensive plug-n-play NAS IDE
drives as a way of adding storage capacity and some automated backup
space.

I'm thinking about something like TrueImage to run scheduled backups
to the NAS. Any drawbacks to this type of system in a simple home
network running XP?

TIA,

Not really apart from the problem with price.

They're getting down to the $250 range for 120G NAS boxes. While it's
more expensive than local storage or standard USB/FW boxes (which I
already have), I'm willing to pay a small premium for the flexibility.

I'm concerned that they're not very mature yet, though.

Thats certainly true with the cheap ones. Someone was howling
in here just the other day about their's only being half implemented.

The bleeding edge aint called the bleeding edge for nothing.

I just meant that there is nothing special about a home
XP network with them, not that they dont have their
downsides just because they are the bleeding edge.
