Indexing with Keys in the Inbox is not working

In the Inbox, view is set based on senders and it is collapsed. Generally if
I am at sender starting with alphabet "C" and if I click "Y" then I am taken
to sender whose mail ID starts with "Y". Currently this feature is not
working in my installation.
This works well with sent Items folder.

What settings I need to make so that it will work?

Version of Outlook?
Do you have Group By enabled or not?
Tried resetting your view already?
View-> Arrange By-> Custom...-> Reset Current View
