Hello to everybody,
I am having a window management problem that is driving
me literally crazy:
every time IE opens a new window (for instance, say,
you are in Google and open a result in a different
window, or even in this newsgroup, when you get the
new window to do a post), I cannot
go back to the original window: neither using ALT+TAB,
nor clicking directly on it (!)
The window stays buried below.
What I have to do is ALT+TAB or click to some other
window, and
then the ALT+TAB (or a direct click) allows the window
to go again on top.

Any clue? I thought to know a lot about Windows,
but this thing is **really driving me crazy**, forcing
to ALT+TAB or click at least 2/3 times every time to
regain the original window.

Thanks to every kind sould who can help,
Max (rather desperate)

ps
FWIW, I'm using Windows XP Professional, and IE 6.0.2800.
All critical XP patches updated.

I would scan the machine for viruses and other malware with a virus
scanner and Hijack This!

IE-plugins like download managers, deinstall or deactivate them to see
if this helps.
