Greetings --
It sounds very much as if the new RAM module is defective.
It's absolutely essential that any new RAM module(s) be fully
compatible with both the motherboard and/or any other RAM module(s)
already in the system. Additionally, there are sometimes jumper
switches on older motherboards that need to be reset for new RAM
configurations. Consult your motherboard's manual or the
manufacturer's web site for specific instructions and compatibility
requirements.

I have just bought 256MB of sdram (133) to increase my RAM to 512.
My existing RAM is 133. When I start after fitting I get a message
which says "System 32\drivers\ntfs.sys" missing or corrupt. Use set up
to repair by pressing 'r' at first screen. I have removed my original
RAM and just fitted new RAM but PC does not start at all. When the new
RAM is fitted with existing it does show 512 MB at start up.
