Incorrect XP PID

Ollie

Hello Yall,
I was trying to install a Retail version of XP Pro on
160G HDD but it would not recognize it. So I grapped my
OEM CD and tried the installation again, and it worked.
However I need to use the Product ID Code from the retail
version to stay legal, how can I switch the product ID
without having to reinstall (remeber I was not able to
get the retail copy to recognize the 160G HDD)

Thanks a lot

Ollie

OEM and Retail Version Product Keys are not interchangeable
so you cannot switch them.

What you need to do is make a SP1 Slipstream version of your Retail
Windows XP, then perform a "Repair Install" using the
Retail Product Key.

I would be interested to know why you had problems with a 160 GB HDD.

Let me guess, you tried to format this as FAT32. The maximum partition
size is only 32GB from Windows XP setup. Make it a NTFS partition.
