Altered PID will not accept my VOL key

Hi there
I can't find my XP Volume license disk. I had read about being able to
change the CD type by editing the setupp.ini file in the i386 folder and
re-burning the CD. I took an OEM version of XP from my Action Pack
subscription and did this, but it will not accept my key - I get "The
product ID you entered is not valid". The disk has been changed to a Volume
license one though - as the box does say "Type the Volume License Product
key below".
Is the Pid not enough to change?

Here are the contents of setupp.ini from my OEM cd:

[Pid]
ExtraData=786F687170637175716954806365EF
Pid=76487OEM

I have altered them to:

[Pid]
ExtraData=786F687170637175716954806365EF
Pid=76487270

but that is not working. Is there something else that I need to be doing?

Thanks for your time.

Won't work. The PIDGEN.DLL among other files only accepts certain keys,
you need the VL media.

Just a followup on Adam's post, since other people will continue to have this question. I have been looking into this on other sites. Basically, you can change a disk to act like OEM, Retail, etc., but you can't change a non-Volume License to act like a Volume License. But from what other sites say, that seems to be the only real limitation.
