incorrect logon credentials

When I attempt start Outlook 2000 (running on XP Pro) a Username, domain, and
password box pops up. When I fill it in with all the correct information, it
says my login credentials are incorrect and to try again. No matter what I
try it doesn't work. The only thing I can do is hit escape a million time
until Outlook closes.

I've tried changing the password, tried it with different users, and
changing Outlook settings. In other words everything I can think of!

This machine was infected with some viruses, but is now clean.

Can you help? Thanks!!!

Hi Andreas,

Thank you for trying to help. I followed your instructions, but it still
asks for username, domain, and password and then rejects them as incorrect
whenever I start Outlook.

The registry key you mentioned only had a S-XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX key. I tried
deleteing this key, but it still did not work.

I've tried reinstalling Outlook, removing and adding Exchange services to
Outlook profile, deleting Windows profiles, giving users Administrator
privelages, changing the password, trying different users, switching from
Exchange to POP mail, and nothing worked. If you have any other suggestions,
I'd appreciate it!

Cheers,
