Inconsisentt behavior of new Journal Form

I created a new form for my journal folder and updated all the existing
forms to the new version and set the default in the Journal folder
properties. The new form is opened when I drop a contact on the Journal
folder in the Navigation pane (OL 2003) and it is filled with the pertinant
contact data. A new format, blank, journal form will open when I click the
journal icon on the menu bar if a contact is not opened. I get the original
Journal Form when I click the Journal Icon on a Contact panel or when I dial
out from a Contact form and the create Journal entry is checked.

I want to always use my custom Journal Form but Contact Records do not seem
to point to it.

Oh yes, and this may be telling, I created a custom Contact Form as well,
before I created the custom Journal Form

Thanks for your help

Thank you Sue. I followed the steps described but there continues to be a
disconnect.

I get varied results that indicate a link is missing between Contact forms,
the Contact Folder, and the New Call panel (when the "Create new Journal
entry when starting new call" is checked)
and my Customize Journal form.
Drag a contact from the Contact Folder View to Journal Folder:
Custom Form, Contact field filled, Catatgories field filled on the
journal form.
Click the Journal Icon on the tool bar from any folder or form
Custom form, Contact field empty, Categories field empty on the
journal form.
Open Contact form and click Journal Icon on the contact form
Old Form, Contact field filled, Categories field empty on the
journal form.
Open a New Call form and check "Create Journal entry..." then execute
the call
Old Form, Contact field filled, Category field not filled on the
journal form.

So it appears the Journal folder and the Tool Bar icon for a journal entry
know about the custom form but other links do not.
This is with Outllok 2003.

BTW I'm going for your book.
Thanks,
Pete

Did you perform the registry substitution to make your custom journal form
the global default, under Office\11.0?

So I read your reply and say to myself, yeah, yeah, I did that stuff like
she said, in fact I did it twice. So I was going to tell you, indignantly I
did that then thought, to myself again, well, why don't I try just one more
time, which I did. Only this time I actually filled in the blanks "compose"
and "read" in the FormSwap panel. And LO! AND BEHOLD even, this time it
works. It's a humbling experience - Thank you for your assistance and
patience.
