Incomplete Save

I've been using Movie Maker 2 for months and have ran into problems before
with video filters which have all been fixed, but now I'm having more
problems with saving. I made a video, about 7 minutes long, with some music,
quite a few video effects, and moderate scene cuts. I go to save it as a
movie on My Computer, and the progress is extremely slow. Usually, it takes
5-15 minutes to save a movie of mine, but this time it took about 1-2 minutes
for every 1 percent progressed. I've made movies much longer with way more
scene cuts and effects and audio that have taken way less time. Anyway, the
progress will get anywhere from 60-80% (I've tried saving it 3 times) and
then jumps to 100%, saying it's completed. So, I click Finish, and go to
watch my movie, only to find that the last few minutes of my movie are
non-existant. It only saved the first 4-5 minutes of it. PapaJohn, I have
visited your Can't Save a Movie page and have found nothing on this subject.
I have plenty of memory, I don't run other programs during saving, I have no
video filters selected, I don't get any error messages, the project is
obviously not too complex as I have saved more complex projects with no
problems before... I'm basically at the end of my rope. I have checked many,
many, MANY forums and FAQs pages and have found absolutely nothing. I have
even done a system restore. NOTHING! Any help would be greatly appreciated,
as I reeeeeeally enjoy making videos and my viewers enjoy watching them.
PLEASE HELP ME!!! Thank you.

Maybe it's an issue with the file formats of
your source files. MPEGs, JPEGs and MP3s
sometimes cause issues. .wmv, .bmp, and
..wma or .wav might work better.

Also, you may need to do some regular
maintenence:

Running Disk Cleanup, Error Checking and
Defrag on a regular schedule is a good idea.

There can also be temp files that need to
be deleted as described in the following
tutorial previously posted by Yves:

If these files were downloaded from the
internet or e-mail, they may be in a
subfolder of your Temporary Internet Files
folder.

The folder name will start with OLK and
there will be a number after OLK. The easiest
way to find this folder is to search for OLK*
and once found open it and see if the files
are there.

Click on Start and Search and then:
All files and folders
More advanced options
Search system folders
Search hidden files and folders
Search subfolders

In the top textbox "All or part..."
type in exactly this OLK*
and click search

This search will take a while but should
return all folders starting with OLK.

Open the folders, change the view to
Thumbnails and see if the unwanted files are
there. If so, just select them and delete. They
will go to your Recycle bin, delete them from
there also. Or, hold the Shift key down when
you delete them in order to prevent them from
going into your Recycle bin.

(check the two boxes..."Automatically fix file
system errors" and "Scan for and attempt
recovery of bad sectors") the utility will run
the next time you restart your computer.
(run error checking repeatedly until it finds
no errors)

Also...it could be a resource issue...closing
all programs (especially virus scanners) before
opening movie maker may help and adding
more RAM or increasing the size of your
Paging File could help.
