Incoming POP3

I am getting an error message 0x80042108 which is because the server cannot
connect to my incoming POP3 mail server. However, I can go to
"Webmail.nctv.com" and get my messages over the internet and I can send
messages fine, but I can't receive any messages. Why is this?

Make sure your Outlook client is configured to connect to the SMTP and POP
server as listed at http://www.nctv.com/gettingstarted.asp and if you can't
connect, go to Start - Run and run: telnet mail.nctv.com 110

What do you get when you try the Telnet?

It was weird because these problems began from one day to the next. I didn't
make any changes to anything on my system. The only possibility that I can
think of is maybe Norton updated it's virus definition and maybe something is
being blocked, but even when I disable the firewall and the entire Norton
program I still have issues. Even after running Telnet, it still didn't work
in fact I got an error message of "Could not open connection to the host, on
port 110. The data area passed to a system call is too small."
Does this mean anything to you, because it means diddly to mean.

Well, telnet isn't a way to fix the problem, its a way to narrow the problem
down.

If telnet can't connect to your pop server, Outlook won't be able to, so
whatever the problem is, it's outside of Outlook. Do you have other computers
on the network? If yes, can they connect to the pop server? Have you tried
temporarily uninstalling the firewall software (not just disabling it) from
the computer to determine if that is blocking it?
