Incoming Outlook mail needs a "nudge"

It appears that messages don't come to my Inbox until there is another message "behind" them. If I send myself an e-mail for testing purposes, it doesn't appear in the Inbox until I send ANOTHER message. Am I hallucinating?
 
I figured out that it's a "send/receive" issue. I can figure it out from here. Thanks for thinking about responding.
