Including Narration AND Background Music

Is it possible to have narration and background music on
the same slide(s)? It seems that any slide that I
include narration automatically removes any background
music. I've tried adding the music after creating the
narration, but that does not seem to work either. Any
simple tips would be helpful. I'm not very technically
savvy. THANKS!

Yes you can. But, it all depends on your computers sound capabilities. Here
would be a good place to start

Play sounds across multiple slides (A WAV runs through it)

Michael's given you good info on how to play the background track across slides.

One thing to be aware of when you go to play narrations and background tracks together, is that some computers can't play, for instance, two WAV sounds at once. So you may have the best luck with this by using an MP3 or a MIDI or something as your background track and WAVs for your narrations.

Just found it interesting:
If both narration and background music on the same slide are embeded(not
linked), only one works . If one of them is linked, they can work
together.(PowerPoint XP)

Some systems cannot play two .wav files (only type that can be embedded) at the
same time.

I had tried the following steps to test,

1.Record narration in a slide in powerpoint, the narration is embedded.
Insert a music file which is a wav file of 154KB. As the default setting is
100k, so the music is linked, now both narration and music file work well.

2.Delete the music file, increase PowerPoint's default setting of 100k to
1000K: Tools-> Options -> General tab ->Link sounds with file size greater
than 1000KB. then insert the music file again, so the music is also
embedded, now only the music works, the narration does not work.

I personally have never been able to insert two wav files into the same slide
and have them play simultaneously. I always have to have one wav file, and one
other audio type. Then everything works OK.
