Incessant IE dialogs re Scripts and Active-X

Guest

Every single web page I call up results in a series of IE dialogs asking me
to OK the use of scripts ("Scripts are usually safe. Do you want to
allow...?) and Active-X controls ("Do you want to allow the use of Active-X
and plug-ins?"). Plus the occasional warning that a script is attempting to
use Active-X.

Everything was fine until one day when I (a) downloaded a XP update and (b)
changed from Norton (intro subscription ended) to McAfee (which I get free
from Comcast).

I can't for the life of me figure out what changed so dramatically, and find
the Tools/Internet Options/Advanced tab unclear and intimidating. meanwhile,
it often takes me a sequence of 8-12 clicks to open a web page.

HELP!

Hi,
You could try resetting Internet Zone security back to default. From
Internet Options> Security> (select) Internet Zone> click Default Level.

For tighter security settings see this page:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/restricted.htm#Setting

Or, you may have to examine settings in McAfee. It's settings may be too
restrictive.

Hope this helps,
