Inbox updating when you go to Calendar?

I have a user (Outlook 2k, Exchange 2k) who's inbox doesn't refresh as it's supposed to (real-time). Hwoever when she clicks from her Inbox to her Calendar, that suddenly makes her emails show up in her Inbox. It's almost like she's working offline and that clicking on her Calendar makes the Inbox check for new mail. Problem is I can't find a setting anywhere that would make it do this and if I log on to my Outlook in Offline mode, it doesn't do it for me

Any suggestions as to why it might be doing this and where the setting is that would make it work this way
